The trained wood sculptor Thomas Diermann is located at the Lake Constance-area, and since 1997 works as a freelance artist. His materials are bronze, terracotta and wood, his preferred material being wood, though. In his working phases he finds himself in an ongoing dialogue with the material. His sculptures are all made from one trunk, so that he always tries especially to pay attention to the stature and grain of the tree, which he sees as "sedimented and lived time,". Thus, although his works are assigned to the abstract, they seem to be always connected to the figurative.
The special feature is probably that his artworks are meant and can be used both indoor and outdoor and are animate the viewer not only to look but to to touch them.
